LEVELS
The PULSE LA offers three levels to choose from. Please respect your level based on ability and age. You will not be able to switch levels after registering.

INTERMEDIATE: This level is designed for dancers ages 11-14. Classes will be taught for the intermediate-advanced dancer. We suggest a minimum of 5 years of dance training prior to the event. Dancers should be knowledgeable of the convention class setting and well-rounded in their dance education.

ADVANCED: This level is designed for dancers ages 14-17. Classes will be taught for the advanced dancer. Movement will be given quickly and choreography is expected to be learned and performed without hesitation.*

ADVANCED/PRO: This is our most mature level. The direction from the faculty will be geared for adult language and expression. This level is best or dancers ages 17+, for teachers, teacher assistants and advanced dancers. In some cities, we may combine the Adv and Adv pro based on enrollment.*

The PULSE faculty members are professional, working choreographers and seasoned teachers. All material is taught at a fast pace, yet in an encouraging environment. Our goal is to motivate and inspire each and every student at The PULSE. We ask that you respect not only the dancer’s age, but his/her training level when selecting the registration type. Separate color wristbands will be given for each level.

*In some cities, we may combine the Adv and Adv pro based on enrollment

OPTIONS
SOLO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The solo scholarship program is an opportunity for registered dancers to be able to perform their solo for critique. Each soloist will receive a written and audio critique of their performance. This performance is held on Thursday, July 15 beginning at 6:00pm. The performers will be critiqued by master faculty from the Los Angeles area. The top soloists will be asked to perform in the opening number of the PULSE Showcase on Saturday July 17. The panel will also choose PULSE Premiere performers who will be asked to perform their solo at the PULSE Performance Showcase on Saturday July 17. These performers will also be invited to perform their solo during the regional tour. $150, limit one solo per participant.
PLEASE NOTE dancers participating in the Solo Scholarship Program must arrive no later than 1 pm on Thursday, July 15.

We have arranged a special price for LA PULSE participants. This is a $200-500 value! You will receive your professional digital negatives and contact sheet before you leave. PERFORM

THE PULSE PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE
Explore the stage with no boundaries. We invite each group of 10 or more dancers to present up to 2 pieces in the performance. The PULSE asks if you bring more than one number that you have two entirely different groups of dancers performing. No one dancer should be in two routines.
• The showcase is held Saturday evening during the event weekend and is open to the public. There is no fee to come support your fellow dancers!
• The show runs approximately two hours.
• The faculty will speak to the teachers or leaders of the groups who perform at the Performance Showcase and give constructive critiques during the Creative Connect on Sunday.

REQUIREMENTS
• You must be registered as a group to perform in the PULSE Performance Showcase. Studios with less than 10 dancers: We will open the showcase to you one month prior to the event, depending on availability.
• Up to two (2) numbers per studio (10+dancers registered, space permitting.) All groups may only enter one piece initially. One month prior to the event, the showcase will open to a 2nd group piece and groups registered as individuals as space permits.
• Minimum of five dancers in any piece.
• $250 per dance (5-10 dancers) or $25 per dancer (11 and more dancers)
• Three-minute maximum length (unless approved by PULSE Staff.)
• You may choose to wear costumes or casual dance attire.
• First come, first served.
Thanks for your support. We look forward to seeing you in lights!

REGULATIONS
• Performance submissions must be entered and paid two weeks before workshop start date.
• All music and movement must be appropriate for a family audience
• All performers must be registered for The PULSE in the city where they are performing.
• 30 dancers, maximum, on stage at one time.
• Crossing from stage right to stage left (or vice versa) during any number may be done on stage. Depending on the venue, there may not be access to cross backstage.
• The stage is approximately 40 x 30’ (length by depth) and is covered with a professional StageStep marley floor.
• Usually, all dancers enter stage right, exit stage left. Entrances and exits subject to change, depending on the venue.
• General props are okay, and should be able to be moved on and off stage by performers only. Please make sure any props, confetti, feathers, etc. are removed at the end of the routine.
INDIVIDUALS
Your opportunity to impress The PULSE faculty happens in class! If you are interested in individual performance opportunities, please join us for our SOLO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM held on Thursday night, or get a group together and see if space is available one month prior to the date of your city to perform in the Saturday night Showcase.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Any registered participants are eligible for scholarships! Dancers pick up a number Friday afternoon before their first class. Auditioning is optional. You do not have to wear a number, but why not? We do not have a traditional closed audition. Instead, The PULSE faculty choose to reward dancers who catch their eye in classes, whether it’s recognizing technique, drive, style or enthusiasm. This process not only permits more class time, but also allows a controlled, creative, casual atmosphere. We ask that you wear your scholarship number throughout the entire weekend so each faculty can get the chance to see you during your class performance!
The PULSE awards over $30,000 in scholarships at each event including PULSE Convention Scholarships, PULSE Summer Scholarships, Training Scholarships to studios and more!
Are you already a scholarship recipient? Congratulations! We can’t wait to have you back at The PULSE! You must contact us to redeem your scholarship.
